Running XPHome SP2

I do not leave my USB ADSL Modem permanently switched on - only connecting
as necessary. But when I switched on the Guest account (I'm expecting
visitors) I could not connect to the Internet unles I had already made a
connection in my administrator account. Is this a 'permission' problem? I do
not want to have to log on for my guests each time they want to check their
e-mail, etc. Any ideas?
2.
While fiddling about in Explorer (I thought I was just copying Favorites
from one account to another:)) I suddenly lost all the icons in my Quick
Launch bar. Is there a quick remedy?
3.
The first and only time I wanted to use System Restore it w/could not return
to my required checkpoint of two days ago. Is this common? How can I make a
defin ite checkpoint?

Cheers
Gilbert

A word of newsgroup advice. "Various" is not a good subject for a post here,
and putting several unrelated questions in a single message isn't a good
idea. It's easy for your questions to be overlooked or ignored this way.
It's best to have one post per question (unless you suspect that they are
related) with a descriptive subject line for each.

Unfortunately System Restore sometimes gets correupted. When this happens,
your only solution is to turn off System Restore (thereby deleting all
restore points), then turn it back on.

Create a text file in Notepad as follows:

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Save it as Show Desktop.scf then drag it to the Quick launch bar.
Or just click on this link:

Restore/Add Show Desktop to Quick Launch (Line 61)

Also note that you can do this with a keyboard shortcut: the combination of
the Windows key + D or the Windows key + M.
