validation rule multiple related tables

Hello:

I have to linked tables an Original Table where information from a form
filed is entered and an amendment table where forms amending the original
form are stored. I have a form for data entry for the original table and a
subform for the amendment table fields.

The original form is given a file date the amendment when filed is given a
file date.

I would like to set up a validation rule so that when an amendment file date
is entered it must be => the date of the original form filing.

Is there a way to validate information between two related tables?
