Using Word as an editor in Outlook removes signature formatting

Got a problem with Using Word as my Editor in Outlook 2003 pro. Whenever I
create a signature and add a picture and formatting such as color changes,
the pictures don't show and the color stays black.

Now I can fix this real easy by un-selecting Word as my email editor. All
images and colors return and the signature is fine.

My question is why? I even have 1 or 2 machines that using word as the
email editor does not affect the images or formatting. Is this a Office SP
issue?

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks,
Dale

I just want to make sure you are clear that when you use Word as your
e-mail editor it uses a particular signature and if you use Outlook's
e-mail editor then it is a totally different signature. Did you format the
signature for Word with the colors and picture? To modify the Word
signature open an e-mail and go to Tools ->Options and then on the General
tab click the E-mail Options button at the bottom. Make sure your signature
is formatted correctly on this screen with the colors and picture.

I hope this information is useful.

That's what's the most confusing...I go into a new email, choose
Tools\Options, select the General Tab and choose the Email option on the tab
and the signature shows up with all it's colors...Just as it should!!! If I
click on the signature that is in the email, it is black but when I look at
the toolbar it shows the font as blue!!!

If I remove word...bingo works great....

Any other ideas?

Thanks,
Dale

PMFJI, but the behavior you're referring to -- different signatures for the
two editors -- is for Outlook 2000 and earlier. In Outlook 2003, which is
what Dale has, both the built-in editor and WordMail use the same .htm,
..rtf, and .txt files as signatures. And all signatures can be set in Tools |
Options | Mail Format. The dialog in Word is somewhat redundant.

Sue is correct. Still it's just odd that sometimes I can make word the
editor, change the color but it still shows up as black...then I go back and
remove word as the editor and the color comes through...

Also, the small pictures, usually gif's that we are using, only show up as
X's when you send the mail with word as the editor nor will they print...but
if you go back and remove word as the editor bingo all is well....

So for now I have solved the problem by removing word as the editor...but
there must be something we are doing wrong...

Thanks,
Dale
