Using Wacom tablet with PPoint

HI! I, too, am interested in using a Wacom tablet to write on PPoint slides
during presentations. However, the first problem I'm having, apparently, is
installing the handwriting recognition function into Office.

I'm using Office XP Professional 2002 and Windowws XP, and I have gone to
the "Shared Office Features" of the install process and attempted to activate
the Handwriting recognition feature. However, I have never seen the "Language
Bar" referred to in the PPoint Help section on handwriting recognition. What
am I doing wrong?

The following is from the Help file in PowerPoint 2003:

Show the Language bar

1.. On the Microsoft Windows Start menu, and then click Control Panel.
2.. Click Date, Time, Language, and Regional Options.
3.. Click Regional and Language Options, and then click the Languages tab.
4.. Under Text services and input languages, click Details.
5.. On the Settings tab, click Language Bar, and then select the Show the
Language bar on the desktop check box.
However, I don't think you're going to be able to do what you want. It sounds
like you want to use handwriting recognition in presentation mode. In
presentation mode any writing is going to be captured as "ink" or graphics.

Thanks, Sonia. Following the steps you sent (which I had attempted before
unsuccessfully), everything appeared as it should. Just took your saying it,
no doubt!

What I'm hoping to do is duplicate the effect of adding notes to an overhead
transparency, where the basic info has been burned onto the transparency,
then one can write other notes on it. It approach seems to be working as I'm
wanting, but I can see I'm going to have to do some digging to achieve what I
want.

For example, when I choose "Write Anywhere" on the Language Bar, the "Text"
option is autotmatically selected and the "Ink" option grayed out. Then, when
I write on a blank slide, I cannot save what I've written. I don't know if
that's related to the fact that it's not in Ink mode or not. Also, when I add
notes to an existing slide that has text, I must be careful not to wipe out
the text accidentally. I must fiund out if the text on a slide can be saved
so that it cannot be accidentally altered. So, I have a way to go. I don't
know how folks get bored when there's so much to figure out!
