I am using System account on win2003 server for running a windows schedule
task which do some custom eactivity.
Is it appropriate to use Local system a/c for this or there can be any
disadvantage. Or we have to use a new specific a/c for this purpose ?

The Local System Account has permissions on all local resources, so it is appropriate.
If however, you task involved network access, then you couldn't use the local system account.
You would use "Network Service" or a domain administrator account.
