Using SysPrep to Clone

Amir

Hi,

I am trying to clone a hard drive to another hard drive,
which is to be used in a different machine. If I use
SysPrep on the source computer to remove its SID, how will
I be able to restore its SID back?

Also, I read that SysPrep should not be used on machines
that have SID dependent software on them. Which types of
software are SID dependent?

Thanks

You cannot restore a SID, sysprep will create a new SID. It isn't
necessary for you to use sysprep at all if you cloning this drive to one PC.
It is only used for deploying the image to multiple PCs.

Thanks for the reply.

If the two computers are both going to be on the network
then won't there be a conflict?

Running sysprep will not remove the SID but will change it to a new,
randomly generated SID.
