Using Multiple Cameras for one photo folder sorted correctly in or

I just got back from Costa Rica and had photos from the media of a handycam,
a cybershot and a coolpix camera (three different cameras used by both my
wife and myself). I wanted to make one folder to upload to get a printed
photo album but the numbering of the photos had the three sets of photos
seperated by the different number file names of the three different cameras.
I copied all the photos into a new folder and then went to "view" and then
"arrange icons by" and selected "picture taken on". Fortunately all of the
cameras had the same time set in each of the built-in clocks. This then
sorted all of the pictures correctly, even ones taken only minutes apart. It
was neat to see the same event from different angles.
Once it was sorted according to "picture taken on" I went to "rename"
(details elsewhere on this website) and then renamed all of the photos so
that the file names were chronological. At that point it was easy to make a
CD-ROM that kept all of the photos in chronological order.
But when I uploaded to ofoto or shutterfly the order was scrambled. This was
because of the different numbering systems (also detailed elsewhere on this
website). This was corrected at www.irfanview.com so that it could be
uploaded.
This made the creation of a bound photo album from all three different
cameras very easy and kept me from having to do any manual rearranging.
