using DAT video clips in PowerPoint

I used the VCD clipper to extract a videoclip. But Powerpoint is unable
to recognise the video. Does Powerpoint only accept AVI or MPG??

The Powerpoint in my older notebook is able to display AVI movies. But
the PowerPoint in my new notebook is unable to do so.
Is there any special codec I need to install?

Appreciate any guidance

Thanks

No, sorry but PPT won't play a dat file. You'll need to convert it to
somethng more acceptable.

I'm not familiar with a DAT video clip, so I don't know if PPT will accept
it or not. I wonder if VCD is ripping the DVD as an MPEG2?

http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm will be
useful for you to read.

I would probably just grab PFCMedia and let it do the work.
