Using Backup Utility error

J

Jackie Mac

I am trying to create a full backup of my entire system
using the backup utility.

I get to the "Backup Type, Destination and Name" section of
the "Backup Restore Wizard" and:

Select Backup type = File (grayed out)

Choose place to save backup = F:\ (read/write cd drive)

Type a name for this backup = backup 082003

Next

The following message appears:
"Backup file name can not be used"
"F:\backup 082003.bfk"
Please insure that it is a valid path, and that you
have sufficent access

What am I doing wrong. Shouldn't this be enough, or do I
have to copy all the files to the F drive or make a folder
in the F drive & copy of files into that?

Thanks,

Jackie

XP's native backup program is very basic. It cannot backup files
directly to a CD-RW drive, nor can it span multiple CDs. You
need a third-party backup program to do what you want to accomplish.

Consider BackUp MyPC:

Thanks Nicholas -

That was the thing I thought of first, but moved it
to last thinking XP should be able to do this....

I did had a program that came with my PC, but trashed it
when it wouldn't work with XP and had to paid $$$ to
get a version to work with XP.

Oh well......

Thanks a million for you help.
