Using an embedded object

At school, we insert an Excel object into a Word document and are able to use
it by double-clicking on the Excel grid. When I try to do this at home, there
is no grid; there is no icon. There are just the words Embedded Worksheet (or
something like that.) I need to be able to have the Excel object embedded
into Word and be there to use just by double clicking the spread sheet grid.
Please help. Thank you. Jacob.

Press Alt+F9 to toggle off display of field codes, and you should be able to
see the "Excel grid" that you can double-click on to open the Excel worksheet.
