Using a Modem through a Client Session

David

I've a strange request. We are connecting to a TS
running Citrix 1.8 through a T1 connection. We need to
use a modem to dial out to a HyperTerminal session for
medical billing. The modem is physically located on the
TS and cannot be placed on a client as the drive mapping
on the T1 to the TS is too slow. Thus we need to dial
out from the TS with the use of the client. When on a
local (within the same building) connection to the TS as
a client, there is no problem dialing out on the modem
with Hyper Terminal. But when at a remote location as a
client Modem will not dial out at all. No dial tone, no
dialing! Its like the modem is not there, even though it
tests fine through Hardware manager. Tried both
HyperTerm and phone dialer and still no luck.

Any ideas?????

Thanks,

David

What COM port is the modem setup on. It is possible when using a remote
Citrix session that the COM port (like COM1) Is being redirected to the
client physical hardware.

Try logging in as the user and doing a net use com1: /d for wahtever comport
you are trying to use, or disable dcomport mapping in the ICA connection

Why are you still using such unhandy thing as Hyper Terminal? Recently
I've found an interesting program - Flash Terminal. It is really Hyper
Terminal killer. With Flash Terminal you can chat and exchange files
via modem (including v.90, ISDN, ADSL, GPRS) and null-modem
simultaneously without Internet! You can exchange up to 255 files at
once with unlimited transfer resuming after connection break. Program
includes large amount of nice avatars.
