Using a macro on shared workbook excel 2003

I have 2 computers sharing a workbook.
There is a macro in it that sorts column A by date.
There are about 300 rows of data.
About one third of the rows have a few different colours.
The colours are changed a few times a day.
The colours identify the current assembly status of a product.
Only one computer changes the colours, but both computers use the macro to
organize by date in column A.
My problem is that the coloured cells don't seem to always move with the
rows when organized by date.
Most of the time they do, but about once per day, either the colour is
missing, or it is in a different row.
They just don't seem to always move with the text.
Does anybody have any ideas on why this is happening and how to correct the
problem?
I could change the cell colours to just text for the current status, but it
is not as visible to the users.

Thanks,
Joe

In light testing, the only time I could make the colors not move is if I didn't
sort my complete range (and the value didn't move either). Any chance that your
macro may not include the whole range?

I just applied the color through Format|cells...

How did you apply the coloring?

If you used Format|Conditional formatting, then remember to include the whole
range (column?).

That Conditional formatting stays with the cell.

Dave,
My macro is sorting the whole range.
I apply the colours using the fill bucket on my toolbar.
It's odd- it sometimes seems like it is reverting back to a previous version
from an hour before.
I have my track changes set to 15 days, but I just saw the file(700k) jump
to 8MB in 1 day.
I took the book off share(which erases the track history) and it went back
down.

Sorry, I don't have any other guesses.
