Users want to transfer files

Joe Temborius

TS is working great...except for hit/miss printer problems.

Question: users want to be able to transfer files that
they create (primarily .doc and .xls) on TS server back to
their workstations.

What is best practice/approach for this? Would prefer not
to have to create network share or similar security nuance.

Any KB articles on this subject that you could point me to?

Thanks a bunch,

Joe

If your clients are XP or they are using the latest RDP
5.2 clients (that can be downloaded from the Microsoft
website @
www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/rdclientdl.asp),
then you can use AnalogX.com's TSDropCopy. If they aren't
using the latest RDP client version, then you might want
to look at the Windows 2000 Resource Kit for RDPClip,
which will also accomplish what you are trying to do.

FYI - Windows 2003 Terminal Server will map the users
local drive for access (like Citrix does).

Joe,
What they want and what you should do are often VERY DIFFERENT things.
Think twice about this for security and virus as well as concept.

The TS machine should a home folder for each user.
Point the local machine docs folder to the TS home folder.
This way there is no need for transfers at all; however
if you need to have a copy on the local machine then set up
at commands to do it automatically at specific times.
good luck
