userinit.exe error!

Watty

I get an userinit.exe error when i try to log on to my computer. I get the
same message in safe mode. I have tried to repair the OS but it tells me
to plug in or cut the power on to my hard drive, it is on and has power.
Any suggestions would be helpfull>

It sounds as though this is a hardware error that needs to be checked out by
a qualified technician.

I appreciate the info, but I like to work on my own computer. If there is
anything i could try, please let me know. Thanks

And if you have a bad hardware device, do you have the means of finding that
out?

Check the hard drive manufacturer's website for their diagnostic tools, make
note of their instructions and run a diagnostic on the hard drive. If it
checks out, perhaps there's a problem with how the drive is connected or
with some cable, perhaps there's an issue with some other device, maybe it's
the motherboard..I can give you a whole list of maybes but we'd be chasing
your tail.

There's not much to go on but you might try posting this problem to the
windowsxp.hardware newsgroup.
