User Names/Password Will Not "stick"

Some websites that I use have the usernames /passwords in popup
windows that appear and they are no problem but a few others have
usernames/passords that you type in to a section on the webpage and
recently I have been unable to get them to "stick" .What I mean is
that every time I go back to the site I have to re-enter them. That is
even when I tick the box asking it to save the info .
This seems only to have happened when I had the Smitfraud-C Trojan
which I managed to get rid of using the Smitfraud-C Fix from
geekstogo.
I don't know if the two things are related but I would like to know
how to get this username/password problem sorted . The only other
thing I have done is install Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security
2007/Trial .I did this before I found the Smitfraud Fix as I thought
it might sort the Smit problem but it didn't.

You are using the IE feature called 'autocomplete'. It is a set of encrypted
entries in the registry.

IE, Tools menu, Options, Delete button, then choose to delete all passwords.
This will clear the corruption from the invader, and let you set them all up
correctly again.

If you don't remember your 'existing' set that still work, go to each one
and change them to something you do, record them, then do the clear and
re-setup of autocomplete.

Thx Mark but that hasn't worked the way I expected .When I go to sites
requiring completion of a username and password on the web page ( as
opposed to in a seperate popup window) the usernames are shown when I
put my mouse at the window where the username gets entered and when I
click that the password ( disguised) appears as well but I am sure
previously the box for the username was already filled in when I
called up the page so I don't know what the answer is .
