user accounts

I have windows xp home sp3, ie-8. I am the only user on the computer. My
question is if it is normal to have under documents and settings, accounts
for all users, defaul user, and owner? If not, can some of these be deleted,
or should I leave well enough alone?

Yeah I would have to agree. If those are the defualt accounts that came with
the machine, then leave them. Unless they are REALLY bothering you, then
remove them.

Nobody is wrong here. He NEVER mentioned system accounts. That "default"
and "owner" accounts are the ones that were probably created by the company
he bought it from like Dell or HP. There is nothing wrong with removing
them. BUT if he asked about the deleting the Guest or Admin account then we
would have a problem. The only reason I say to leave them is in case he ends
up deleting things out of there that are in use.

Default User, All Users, Administrator, asp.net and other system
accounts are created by Windows and should NOT be deleted. The only
accounts that can be safely deleted are user accounts.

Please, Brent, don't wade into threads where you don't understand the
subject matter.

Are you BLIND?! OR just plain DUMB! He NEVER mentioned ANYTHING about system
accounts. The Owner account is created by HP. and if you read my post you
would see I never said the remove the all users accounts. I said he could
remove the "default and owner" accounts. Check yourself before you reck
yourself.

now now. Thanks for input. I will leave them alone. I asume the owner account is the main one that I use as the administrator. I assume the all user account is set up for when I want to add another user, and they would have access to what is in it.
Wasn't too sure about the default account. Thanks for the input. Will
just let it there, as it may have been created by HP for this computer.

Default User is a system account that contains the default settings that
are applied to all newly created user accounts (e.g., desktop wallpaper,
icon size).

All Users is a system account that contains Favorites, Start menu
entries and desktop icons, among other settings, that will appear in all
user accounts.

A full description of these and other, more esoteric, system accounts
can be found with a web search.

Owner is a user account created by some computer manufacturers for the
benefit of people who are unfamiliar with the concept of user accounts.
If you created and are using your own user account, there's no need to
keep the Owner account.

I have to say I got a good chuckle out of reading through this thread and
watching it devolve into a shout match :)
