User accounts and .NET passport

my windows XP has attached an old email account to my user account. I have
tried to change it to my current email account but when I log on, there is a
message under my user account icon telling me that I have 1 unread mail
message on the old account (which is still active) but I don't have any
messages at all. How do I delete this old email address from my user account?

I'm not an MVP or anything but, it seems to me that if you use your email
program to erase your old email address, then windows should comply. I've
changed email addresses before many many times :) and have never had this
problem. I myself though, have always used email programs that are fully
compatible with windows......in other words, Microsoft Outlook, Outlook
Express....etc...etc. I hope that this helps and that you get your problem
rectified. I know how frustrating things can get sometimes.
