User 1 needs to view User 2's Exchange Mailbox

Hi All,

I have a customer that's on SBS2003/Exchange SP2, using Outlook 2003 on all
the workstations.

This client wants to be able to open up (in the Folder list) and view a
different user's Mailbox, such that he has "Mailbox - me" and "Mailbox - The
other guy" in the folder list.

He is currently doing this on one workstation (he's the boss, and had some
security concerns with one employee and wanted to watch everything that was
going on in that employee's Exchange Mailbox). A prior tech (a year back)
set it up where he has his own mailbox, plus the employee's, in his folder
list.

It looks like (from Person #1's folder list):

- Mailbox - Person1
Calendar
Contacts
Inbox
...
- Mailbox - Person 2
Calendar
Contacts
Inbox
....etc.

I would like to know how to configure that, as they have another employee
whose mailbox they need access to, and I've never seen that done before and
they want me to set it up for them. It's not the same as "Open..Other User's
Folder", as that only gives me one folder, like "Inbox", and it does not
appear in the folder list, so you keep having to re-do the command just to
see the one folder. Am I just missing some great cool feature I've never
seen before?

In Active Directory Users and Computers, you need to grant the "boss" full
mailbox access on users account. For example, assume is requesting read
access to John Doe's (JDoe) mailbox. You would open Active Directory Users
and Computers and go to JDoe's account. Right click on and select
properties. Go to the Exchange Advanced tab. Select Mailbox Rights button.
You will "Add" the box with Full Mailbox rights. Okay out and then wait
(can take up to 2 hours to replicate the permission change.)

Once that is done, go to the Boss's Outlook. Right click on "Mailbox -
<username>" in the folder list and select Properties > Advanced button >
Advanced tab > Add button to add JDoe's mailbox.

By the way and I can't stress this enough, if the Exchange server is current
on service packs and security updates, the Full Mailbox right only allows
the boss read access to the mailbox. He shouldn't be able to send anything
out as JDoe.
