Useless icons [IN] Network Neighborhood -How to get rid of?

Icons in Network Neighborhood still exist even after their paths are no
longer valid.

Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

Any suggestions where I should go for this kind of information?
Does the answer lie in windows Register Editor?

Thanks for any leads,

Do 'what' in safe mode? If you believe that Safe Mode will allow you
to irreconcilably hack up your registry beyond all repair and then for
Windows still to function properly after rebooting, you're mistaken.

Safe mode is simply a cut-down instance of windows which can be used for
troubleshooting when you wish to disable all non-essential features, and
only run Windows in it's "bare bones" mode. (Often useful if one of
these non-essential features is causing windows not to boot). Your
windows access rights are not altered in safe mode.

Point taken Ben.
