Use "&" om the form drop down menu

I am using the form feature in Word 2003. As part of the process I use drop
down boxes where I can insert a list of choices in a particular field example
below:

"Request P&A" it changes to P_A in my document
"Suggest you review A&B" changes to "A B

Evidently MS has blocked the & sign from being used in dropdown menus or I
haven't found the key to get it to display correctly?

Greg, I have read the article and since I am not familar with VBE I have not
been able to reproduce the command in my document. I can post the line that
I need for this to work in and hopefully, you will be able to guide me
through how to incorporate it into my form - form field drop down.

SUBJECT: Request for P&&A for Test Equipment and spare parts

I have this sentence in my document with the drop down containing the
following selections:
"Request for P&A", "Request for" and "Request for Information".

If you would use this example in a Word Document and E-Mil it to me I would
be eternally grateful! I would be willing to make a contribution for the
