USB troubleshooting

Hello.

I've tried finding the solution to this problem, but nothing I've tried has
worked. I've had a Minolta DiMAGE 323 digital camera for about a year now and
there have never been problems like this before. I transfer my pictures
through a USB cable and that's what's strange, because every article on USB
I've read talks about VIDEO streams. Yes, I can record videos (without sound)
on my camera and transfer them to my computer, but I transfer my images the
same way, too. Windows XP has never identified my camera; for some reason
it's not on the list and the CDs I got with it don't provide any information.
But since day one I've simply connected the computer and the camera with the
USB cable and the image wizard or whatever has popped up. Awhile ago it
decided it didn't want to show up every time, but I figured out a way to get
my photos anyway - through My Computer. But now I've started getting an error
message saying "USB controller bandwidth exceeded". I've read a few articles
(like this one:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;884470), but nothing
I've tried to do has helped. I removed all USB controllers and restarted my
computer, but all of them were automatically installed again. And for some
reason I have FOUR! (Three "Intel 82801DB/DBM USB universal host
controllers" and one "Intel 82801DB/DBM USB 2.0 enchanced host controller".)
Plus four USB Root Hubs. My digital camera and maybe my mouse are the only
USB devices on my computer, as far as I know and there are only two places I
can stick a USB cable in. I've tried both and got the same error message.
I've tried to delete the controllers and I have restarted my computer at
least a thousand times and still no use. I don't know what else I can do.
Please help!

Any possible solutions will be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

I take it you have SP1 installed, the usb drivers for xp are included.Have you
updated the BIOS to the latest, either way,you might reset the BIOS on the
board, there's a jumper pin that would goes from 1-2 position (normal mode),
to the 2-3 pin setting, you set for 20 seconds or so,then move back to
1-2.Power
disconnected !! Or simply remove battery for 20 sec, power off, then replace,
youll have to reconfigure BIOS settings.Other than that Intel recommends you
open device mgr,R.click on the controller, select, update driver, then close
out.

I'm afraid I'm confused. Could you explain what are SP1 and BIOS? I also
couldn't quite understand what board and pin you were talking about. I'm
slow, forgive me, care to explain in idiot language? I'd love to be able to
get my pictures again. Thanks!

I have the same problem all of a sudden with my Minolta Dimage X. What
gives? Is there some compatibility problem with Minolta and XP? Recently I
updated my XP and since then, I can't upload photos using the Wizzard!

I am using an Olympus C-4000 ZOOM, and all of a sudden I am having the same
problem. This is the same camera I have been using all along, and the Camera
Wizard always popped up when I plugged it into the USB port. Now I get an
error message telling me that the camera is not being detected. It makes the
same "ding" noise when I turn the camera on (same as it always did), and I
can upload my images by using the Camedia Master software I have installed
for the camera. I hate doing it that way though, because then I have to go
in and move all of the photos to the folder I want them in and delete them
from Camedia Master. Any suggestions would be helpful. Please note that I
am not very computer literate.
