USB selective suspend assertion 9.20.6

I am running this test on a USB smartcard reader. The test appeared to have
failed the following assertion:
490.460 : VAR[INFO ] 0 : Assertion 9.20.6: Bus Initialization

490.460 : VAR[INFO ] 0 : Device with ID 0ACD/0401 found in tree but tree
must be at least 1 external hubs deep but not more than 2 external hubs
deep.

490.460 : VAR[SEV1 ] 0 : Assertion 9.20.6:

490.460 : +VAR+SEV1 0 : Assertion 9.20.6: Ends



Note: Assertion 9.20.6 is not described in HCT documentation.

Call somebody shed some light on this?

I could be misinterpreting, but this looks like the HCT complaining that
you aren't following the rules for how you have to set up your system
for testing (i.e. on the other side of exactly 1 hub for some of the
tests). I suggest reading the test plan again to see if this is the case.

Yes. This looks like a test configuration issue.
Some test assertions were previously not described in the documentation (bus
initialization, device initialization) because they were considered more
test configuration requirements as opposed to requirements for the device.
We are working to correct the documentation when we can to make it more
helpful. Thank you for bringing this issue up.
Here is the documentation we are adding for 9.20.6:

9.20.6 After the bus is initialized, the test must find an appropriate USB
test device. The device is appropriate if it does not have more than one
external hub between it and the host. The device and hub must be running at
the highest speed the device is capable of operating.
