USB port message

I'm frequently getting messages which say that the device I have plugged
into my USB port is a high speed device and I should plug it into a high
speed USB port. However all of the ports on my computer are USB2 and my
separate card reader is also USB2

I'm using XP SP" with the latest software adn driver updates.

I'm having the opposite problem and it's really not a big thing but it
drives me nuts. Whenever I plug a USB 2.0 device into my computer I get the
"This device can perform faster..." error message. Well duh! I don't have
2.0 on that computer! Is there any way that I can shut that message off
short of installing a 2.0 card and plugging into that. I can live with the
slow speed for what I use USB for on that computer--it's just the error
message that I hate!

First off, in the future you might want to start a new thread
when you ask a question.

As for your problem, take a look at this article.

Gerry,

Not using a hub at least not an external one. My computer has front and
rear usb sockets so I'll check the mb spec to see if there are usb1 and usb2
ports.

What is the make and model of your motherboard and your chipset?

This freeware programme is excellent for getting information about
your computer:
Everest Home Edition (freeware)

Tip: To copy select Report, Quick Report, Plain Text, highlight
required text, right click and select copy. However, whilst this is
fine for posting small amounts of information into newsgroup messages
longer reports will irritate other newsgroup subscribers.

Hope this helps.
