USB not working on XP

I have a Toshiba Satelite notebook with XP 5.1 vers (svc pack 2) and has USB
1.0 ports, suddenly no devices are being recognized anymore. I have
uninstalled the USB from device manager and reinstalled (on reboot) but still
none of my USB devices (floppy drive, printer) that were being
recognized before are not being recognized anymore.

Help!!!!!!!!!!!

If you UNPLUGGED all of your USB devices, then uninstalled all USB controllers and hubs,
then rebooted and the controllers and hubs were recognized and drivers were reinstalled,
and then you plugged in a USB device and it was still not recognized:

I would first try doing a system restore to a restore point PRIOR to the problem. If that
does not fix things, I would uninstall and reinstall the software for the USB devices as
per documentation. I would also check to see if by some chance USB support was
inadvertently disabled in the BIOS (system setup). If none of the above is applicable,
perhaps it is a hardware failure problem?
