USB Local printing via RDP on thin client

Guest

Hi There,
My problem:
Server:WIndows 2000 Server SP3
Client: HP/Compaq T20 Thin Client (Windows CE)
Printer: HP Laserjet 1000 (USB only)
How do I configure the T20 and Terminal Server to allow local printing using
RDP?
(It used to work on another T20 at the same site with a HP Deskjet 5550 -
but no longer does)
Any help greatly appreciated (HP has escalated my support request but not
answered for two days).
Best regards,
Olaf
(Hope this is the right section - could not find any thin client specific
group)

You have several different problems here:

*) USB printers in general are supported, but sometimes you have
to make a registry change on the client to enable redirection of
the USB printer, especially HP (which creates a custom DOT4 port).
Documented here:

302361 - Printers That Use Ports That Do Not Begin With COM, LPT,
or USB Are Not Redirected in a Remote Desktop or Terminal Services
Session

*) HP LJ 1000 is not supported with Terminal Services.
