USB Keyboard Prevents Selection of Recovery Console

When trying to select Recovery Console from the menu, my up and down arrow keys don't work. I believe this is due to the use of a
USB Keyboard. It works okay if I connect a PS2 keyboard. Is there another way to get to the recovery console without using the
keyboard? Is this a known problem with USB keyboards?

Seems like you may have run into the problem where the OS isn't loaded thus the USB drivers may not be loaded for your keyboard. The
PS2 keyboard works because there are basic drivers in the BIOS for it.

depending on your bios version and age of the bios, there
may be an option to enable the usb drivers so your usb
devices are available at all times.

My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-7VRXP with the latest bios updates. The USB 2.0 is turned on. The keyboard works during the bios
boot process, but fails when it gets to the point where Windows asks which operation system to boot. There is a choice of Windows
XP or Recovery Console, but the up and down arrows don't work.
