USB Flash Drive .. Dialog

I use to put my flash drive in and I would get a dialog that asks me what to
do. Example... play, open... so forth. Usually for data files on a drive,
I would select open folder. Anyway, this does not happen anymore. My
computer still recognizes all three of my flash drives and they all show up
on windows explorer, but I don't ever get the dialog box anymore.

Any way of getting that back?

I'm trying to get rid of it. I hope you get an answer, so you can tell
me what you changed it from. I want mine your way.
I got a my computer icon, I can open it, I don't need MS to do it for
me. I may be retired but not retarded MS.
Good luck JCO.

Do you have TweakUI installed on your computer? If you're looking to turn off
Autoplay on USB drives, do the following in TweakUI.

Click on the + sign next to My Computer.
Click on the + sign next to Autoplay.
Under Autoplay, click on Types.
In the right hand pane, remove the check mark from the box next to "Enable
Autoplay for removable drives".

Good luck

Uwe Sieber, that posts here, writes that ms 'Tweak UI' is buggy
when it disables this dangerous/crazy AutoRun thingy. Uwe has a
tool that hopefully does it right.

The autofix program did fix the issue.
It also creates a log that basically points the issue to the Policy that is
set up for that drive.
Therefore, you should be able to reverse the fix, if you don't want this
"auto read" to happen on your drive.

I just realized that you can do the properties of CD/DVD Drive or the USB
Drive and it will give you the option to uncheck the Auto-Run. So if you do
that, you can stop the autorun.

I got your point. Thanks.
