USB Device

Everytime I plug some device into either of my two front
USB ports, it says USB device not recognized. I plug it
into the back USB ports and it works. The device manager
says all USB ports are working properly. I know all my
USB ports are 2.0 compatible. HELP?????

Are the front two ports actually connected to the motherboard? Have you
checked the motherboard manual to check that if one of the PCI slots is
occupied, it disables the front USB ports (fairly common)?

Check the cabling to the front ports. As an aside, I have seen some
funny connections for front ports. Also some where the rear ports were
USB 2 but the front 1 or 1.1. I have also been told of situations where
one or more of the front ports were not powered so any device had to
have its own power supply.
