usb device problems (Easy prob)

after safely removing one of two usb devices 1(smartmedia card reader) my
pc shuts off the second usb device 2(iomega 750mb external zip drive) my
question is how do i get the zip drive functional again without having to
unplug and replug the device..thanks for your time

Try inserting a Zip disk into the external Iomega drive
before safely removing the other device.

In Device manager... select the properties for the ZIP drive (as long as it
is not connected to a USB hub) The Power tab has a checkbox on it that
should be "un-checked" for letting the system power down the device.

If you have the ZIP connecting to a USB hub because you ran out of ports,
just do the same for the USB Hub device, and also the "ROOT HUB" device for
both the ZIP drive and the USB Hub. They go in pairs... you get a device
listing and a ROOTHUB which really is just the same device.
