usb connections

Since loading Win xp, my Umax 3400 scanner and my Palm,
both of whitch are connected thru USB port, will not
work. Is this a USB problem, or do I need to fix each
hardware interface separately?

Can't say about the Palm but your model scanner isn't on the XP
compatibility list:

Have you checked the Umax site for XP drivers? If they had any, if you've
installed the software bundle that came with the scanner, it can break the
driver function. It's highly unlikely that the software bundle is
compatible with XP even if the drivers are.

If you didn't do a clean install, in other words, you installed XP over your
previous setup, sometimes an upgrade install can break the function so you
might try reinstalling both devices.

The scanner is compatible but drivers are not available online. The CD must
be ordered from Umax.

Thank you, Cari, I only found compatibility up to Windows 2000 but I note at
the link you posted there's a patch for compatibility with XP.
