USB 2.0 to Firewire adapter/cable

My wife has a first generation Ipod (used very little). she'd like to
use it more often, but none of our pc's have a firewire port (this was
before the docking port that they use now).

Does anyone know of a company that makes a cable that has a male
firewire fitting on one end and a male USB on the other?

If nobody makes it, can someone get me started on the road to splicing
these guys together if possible?

Thanks.

There's more involved than just the physical connector.

Not even possible, the protocols are completely different.

You can add a cheap firewire port card tho.

Get one of these and put in in a spare PCI slot in your
wife's computer.

This one uses an Agere (Lucent) Firewire chip.

If you have a laptop, then something like this is an option:

If you don't have the right kind of cable, then pick up a cable
as well.
