Hi all,

This might be a hotfix issue highlighted here -
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892050/en-us

We have Win XP Pro SP2, and have installed a USB 2.0 hub to a USB 2.0 PCI
card. The hub is deteced by windows when plugged in by no driver aare
installed for it an so it is left as unconfigured in device manager and
unworking.

Can anyone confirm this is the issue aand if so, help me out with the hotfix.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks Rock. I also want to see if this issue I'm see IS related to the
hotfix mantioned. I have contacted CS and through the private newsgroups, but
unfortunately I am now away from the problem computer.

Here are some further pointers to this issue:

1) The USB 2.0 hub works correctly on another machine.
2) The user account used that was attempted to set up the hub had
administrator privileges.
3) I have contacted the manufacturer of the Hub and the PCI card and all
drivers should be included within Windows - i.e. no separate drives needed.
4) I have connected the hub to both on board USB ports (although all on
board port are USB 1.1) and those on the USB card and see the same issue.
5) I have connected other devices to the USB 2.0 card with no other issues
(cameras, flash drive and printer).

Is it a powered hub or does it draw power from the USB ports? Powered
hubs seems to work better, but sometimes certain hubs just don't cooperate.

It is both power and unpowered - i.e. it can work in both modes. In the case
of operating with this specific machine, it dosen't work in either mode.
However, as stated previously, it functions correctly on another machine.

I now have the hotfix but will not apply it immediatly and wiat on other
possible solutions.
