USB 2.0 CD/RW Drive

I have a Laptop that only has USB 1.1 ports. I was planning to purchase an
external USB 2.0 CD/RW Drive. I understand that USB 2.0 is supposed to be
backward compatible with USB 1.1. What kind of performance should I expect?

(cough) 4x on everything.

Just because he's READING, doesn't mean he can magically blow right
by the effective 600KB/sec limit of USB 1.
