Usage Question - Regarding Following up

Hi,

Not sure if this is the proper arena for this post, but.... Have a usage /
functional question regarding Outlook, suspect this is a common problem with
many...

Here is the scenario:
1. Send an email to someone, do NOT copy the email to myself so it just goes
in my sent mail.

Here are two problems that arise out of this function:
1. If I am awaiting for a response / need a response to that email what is
the BEST way to re-tickle myself if in fact a response to that email is not
received?

At this time I remember manually in some form a flag, task or just plain old
memory.
2. Once I do decide to re-visit this email it is in my sent folder addressed
to however many people are included in the contact, it is now necessary to
send another message with the message in the sent mail as part of the
thread.

Comment: do not want to create a new message and attach the message want to
continue the thread discussion.

So currently the way this is done is the message in the sent mail is
forwarded and then the people in the addresses are entered manually,
however, many times the names in the to and cc lists are not in my address
book as they are third parties.

Doing a resend solves the name problem but it does not solve the thread
problem, i.e., then you have to manually edit the email to show that you are
adding to the previously sent email.

Is there a good way to handle these two issues?

Good question! I'd love to see what others have to say about this topic. I
know it's a problem with me. That's one of two issues I have with Outlook
(even 2003) that I've lived with for years. I would love to have a workable
solution.

I tend to copy the message either to Tasks or to the calendar or I put a
flag on it, which makes it show up in the "For Follow Up" search folder. I
use the purple flag, but that's simply personal preference.

Why do you need to include the original message? Won't a Reply to All with
properly handled cut/paste in the message and/or recipient list do the job?
Perhaps I don't understand the problem.
