url links not working in Excel

Hi

I am having trouble getting url links to work correctly within an excel
spreadsheet. I've tried several ways and still cannot seem to get them to
open correctly in a browser. Here is an example:

http://www.orthohelp.com/upload/problem.xls

when I just enter the http://...... portions in a browser they open
correctly but when I click on them within Excel, I get a notice the item
cannot be found.

What am I doing wrong?

Using Excel 2002 in Windows XP SP3.

I just copied your link to a worksheet cell>clicked on it to change to
hyperlink>clicked again to open the file.
But you may be better off just opening in the browser and saving to a folder
and then opening.

Thank you for replying Don, but I must be too novice to understand.

It is not the link I gave that is not working. That was a working link I
provided to an Excel file that contains url links that do not work. It is
the hyperlinks within that example file that will not work to open a
browser, and that I do not know how to correct them so that work as links.
Can't that be done in Excel?

The hyperlinks within that example file work if copied to a browser but do
not when clicked on in the Excel file.

I believe the problem is you're using HTML markup for your hyperlinks
rather than Excel markup.

Replace "<a href='http://www.example.com'>click here</a>" with
"=hyperlink('http://www.example.com', 'click here')" and you should be
sorted.
