On startup, before loading windows i get this error:
"Limited Virtual Memory
Your system has no paging file, or the paging file is too
small.

To fix this problem, go to System in Control Panel, click
the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Change. Click 'Custom size,'
and then type an initial or maximum paging file size."

I have tried the fixpage: Microsoft Knowledge Base

Hi, vahakn.

Go back to Step 3.d. of KB 315270 and make sure you've configured that drive
to use a paging file. Then Cancel out before opening Windows Explorer and
clicking that drive, as in the first line of Step 3.

The command "control sysdm.cpl" does not work for me in WinXP Pro. But I
can get to the Paging File settings screen by these steps:
To fix this problem, go to System in Control Panel, click
the Advanced tab, and under Performance, click Settings.
On the Advanced tab, click Change. Click 'Custom size,'
and then type an initial or maximum paging file size."

Here, you can choose how large a paging file to put on each drive. Once
you've completed this task, the Properties screen for that drive should
include a Security tab.

You mention that you are getting the "limited virtual memory" warning but you don't actually mention if you are having problems or not. Turning off the warning is a simple matter of editing the registry. You also don't mention if you completed the pagefile setup or not. You did mention that you set the start size but never mention if you set the maximum size as well. You have to do both for it to work. Or if you want a static pagefile then set the start size to 1500MB and the Max size to 1500MB. This is over kill and is ok if you have tons of free space on your system with a large HDD. In your case I would simply put a dot in the "system managed size" and then click apply down the bottom and let windows decide how much pagefile you do or don't need. You should consider using no less than 512MB of RAM for XP and then you will need very little virtual memory and your system will run faster. e:mail me if you want the low memory warning turned off in the registry. I would also do an "error-checking (scan disk is now checkdsk) a defrag, a system cleanup and even empty your prefetch file and let it rebuild itself. Then you will at least have a clean start or almost. I would also get the HDD diagnostic utility from the manufacturer of your HDD and run it. Here's the link to find your manufacturers disk checking program. http://forums.pcper.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=2382705
Let us know how you make out. Good luck. {:~)

I had something like this once. I'd installed the Intel Application
Accelrator (which installs disc controller drivers) and then later
re-installed Wondows XP. This ended up with a mix of old and new
drivers and resulted in the problem you are seeing.

The fix was to reintall the IAA software. YMMV.
