URGENT: pdf produces text boxes when Save as to .doc

How to not get in the first place or how to get rid of in one fell swoop, the
text toxes around text blocks when you open a pdf and Save As to .doc?

Janet,

This really isn't a problem with Word, but more an artifact of the software
you are using to save the PDF in Word format. Therefore, I would suggest
that you ask that question of the vendor that provided this software.

However, it has been my experience that there really isn't much that can be
done about this problem. Converting a document from PDF to Word is never a
clean process. This is because PDF is a "publishing" format - think of it as
printing on an electronic piece of paper - rather than an "editing" format -
like a Word document. Just because you can "print" a Word document as a PDF
doesn't mean that you can "un-print" a PDF as a Word document, in the same
way as you wouldn't expect to be able to "un-print" a piece of paper using a
scanner and have it come out as a full-featured Word document; even with OCR
software, the conversion is usually less than optimal.

You might be able to use a macro of some sort to remove all of the text
boxes created during the conversion process, but you still won't have a Word
document that looks just like the original PDF; some degree (actually,
probably _a lot_) of manual manipulation will be required.

They are not text boxes but frames - if you don't want them, use an OCR
software application that will format without them, such as Finereader. The
document will still not be an exact facsimile of the original, but at least
you won't have the frames to contend with.
