UPS crashing XP

JS

Greetings,
On occasion when I try to print a UPS shipping label, my XP SP2 crashes. It
says it is caused by "upselt.dll". I have called UPS support and they said
they never heard of it before. They suggested uninstalling and reinstalling,
which I will try when I get time. After it recovered from the crash,I got a
msg to report problem to Microsoft which I did. Is there someway I can view
the details of this crash in a log? Whether online or in my machine. The
last time this happened, I"followed" the crash report and it indicated that
the UPS printer was the cause. I contacted the printer mfg. and they told me
UPS handled the support for the printer. I would like to view and print a
report in case I need to send it to UPS.
Thanks,
Jim

There might be a Drwtsn.log file that can be viewed in Notepad.
And there is also Event Viewer, which might also give a report
of the crash. Although their descriptions might be quite cryptic,
re-post with a copy of any error reports related to this situation.

Thanks,
Is a crash recorded in a log automatically or do I have to make a setting
for that to happen? I looked at Dr.Watson briefly, but could not figure out
how to open a log.

Can you please follow the flow of conversation? Jumping to top posting makes
your post harder to follow after bottom posting, some people won't try to
follow what is happening and you will lose help.

Your Windows has a help system built in. It is available from the Start
Button. Put drwatson in and search- see what that finds for you. Then there
is lots of help available on the internet- try one of the many search
engines .......

Alan - Fsck off. We actually try to *help* people in this newsgroup.

JS - Unfortunately, you got poor tech support from UPS. I Googled
"upselt.dll" and it brought me to this UPS support page so it most
definitely *is* their file. Here's the url. Scroll down to the section
about how to install a thermal printer and you'll see the upselt.dll
file referenced.

I would read through the UPS support documentation and then yes,
uninstalling/reinstalling might work. First, you need to ask yourself
this troubleshooting question:

Did the crashing always occur or is this recent? If recent, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

Also, make sure you have the most recent version of the UPS software.

Good luck,

Malke

You're right. (hangs head in shame). I *should* have said, "*please*
fsck off you fscking fckwit you are a pimple on humanity's as*." But we
all know a Lady doesn't say that, so I didn't. ;-)

Warm regards as always,

Malke

LOL!

Warm regards to you, too, Lady.

Malke,
Thanks for your help. I had just upgraded to the newest version from the
previous, and the crash happens very similarly on both versions. I am pretty
sure it has to do with the printer(driver?). Anyway, I think I will try the
uninstall/reinstall and see what happens.
Thanks for all your help.
