UPHclean Very Useful for Slow Saving Your Settings on XP

I must express my thanks for the effectiveness of UPHclean (User Process Hive
Cleaner), downloadable from MS page
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...6D-8912-4E18-B570-42470E2F3582&displaylang=en

For months I have been suffering from very slow "Saving Settings" during
shutdown, invariably when I am in a hurry to lock up my laptop and go home.

A bunch of web searches revealed that this is normally due to user processes
holding on to the registry. Vey good - but bfinding out which process was to
blame proved very difficult - I could not see how to get this info from Event
Viewer.

I finally found the UPHClean download, and it worked like a dream. One
minute of saving settings has become about three seconds. Nothing seems to
happen when you run it except a brief command window popup, but don't be
fooled, it has set up the hive cleaner and it will subsequently work
automatically.

yes, it is a handy little tool
but it is not always "the"
solution for an unresponsive
pc.

but it doesn't hurt to install
anyways as an ounce of prevention.
