Upgrading xp home-professional

I have a question and if this one was already asked and answered then I
apologize for my inability to read. My question is: I have xp home and I want
to upgrade to XP Professional for work, I have a full copy of Professional
not an upgrade disk. One question is will this still work? My other question
is somebody told me to un-load or something to that effect before I install
it. How do I do that?

You will have no problems upgarding XP home to Pro. Boot from the XP CD and
one of the options will be to update Home.

Make sure you have all the drivers for your hardware available in case they
are needed.

DO NOT have any virus scanner, firewall, spy sweeper, etc ON - else they
will screw up the upgrade. They can be restarted after the upgrade is
successful. If you have a high speed connection: Cable or DSL, turn it off
too until you're done.

Yes, you can use a full RETAIL (not OEM) version of WinXP Pro over WinXP
Home to do an upgrade.
My other question is somebody told me to un-load or something to that

it. How do I do that?

Before you do, uninstall any Service Packs that are installed under WinXP
Home.

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your applications and data, and
translating as many personalized settings as possible. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things
can go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.

The upgrade from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro, in particular, almost
always goes smoothly, as both operating systems use the same kernel.
