want to upgrade my existing pc by just changing the processor. everything
else would stay the same. have a p3 450 but in my work came across a p3 800
and just want to update the motherboard to be only 3-4 years out of date ;-)

looked in the knowledge base but only seemed to find articles about
upgrading to multiple processors.

You will not have to make any changes in Windows to support a faster
processor. Just shut down the system and put in the processor. When you
boot up it will be used.
