Upgrading to XP

I bought my computer with windows me and received an
upgrade offer for Windows XP Home Edition which I
downloaded....recently I had problems with my computer and
restored it back to the original store bought
condition...now I cannot download my Windows XP....it
takes me to where you put in the 25 character and number
product key but says it is invalid and I cannot go any
further....please advise me on this problem...Thanks

How can you download Windows?You can't do it legally.

Please do *not* say Download when you mean Install. Download refers to
getting things across the net from a Server (which you cannot do for
Windows).

Check that number very carefully - it is easy to confuse characters ,
especially G and 6 (unless the piece that turns in *meets* the upright
on the left it is a G); 5 and S; 8 and B

I expect Sandy means "install" where she (or he) says "download". This
may be a case where Sandy has a Restore Disk and an XP Upgrade version
and the Upgrade version will not accept the Restore Disk as qualifying
media. If this is incorrect, then Sandy should repost with more
