upgrading to xp pro

i have several computers running windows xp home sp2 that i need to upgrade
to windows xp pro (2002 release) that i bought over two years ago. when i try
to ugrade the installation stops because it says that i am trying to install
and older version of windows.

Your version of Pro is "older" because it doesn't have SP 2.

To upgrade to Pro you have basically two choices:

1. Create a slipstreamed install CD that includes SP 2, or
2. Uninstall SP 2, upgrade to Pro, reinstall SP 2 (and subsquent updates)

i thought of your second option but not the first. how do you create this cd?

I created my slipstreamed XP disk without error here, worked fine..
Just consider this as an alternate choice if needed..
Another option might be to do a repair install with the original XP install
CD, to remove SP2, then upgrade to Pro..
