Upgrading SP2 from beta

D

Dave

I have installed SP2 beta I think 2149 is the version I'm
not sitting at the PC. When I look at the log in windows
update it keeps trying to update but error's out. When I
try to run the SP2.exe It comes back with an error: This
SP2 update is not compatable with this version of SP2 and
will not install. I really do not want to reload the PC.

Thanks

Dave

If memory serves you need to de-install the beta SP2 before you can install
the RTM version.

Hi Dave

It is advisable to uninstall any Beta version before installing the RTM
version of SP2.

2149 was 'Release candidate 2' and final SP2 *will* install over that.
So I think you have in fact got a different beta build, and will have
to uninstall the present version in Add/remove programs first. I would
get one of the CDs that will appear very soon - indeed I see reports
that some Staples already have them, and perhaps try that first to see
if it is the Windows Update software mis-recognising things
