Upgrading .NET Framework 1.0 to 1.1

I am trying to update .NET Framework from 1.0 to 1.1. The problem is that
any attempt to run the updater fails. I tried to download the updater and
run it locally and it still fails. Is this knowledge article,
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824643/, valid for 1.0 to 1.1 installation
issues?

Same here; I finally gave up on it since it appears I don't
really need the update. Wonder if there are others, too.
Normally I don't hve problems installing updates of any kind.

You don't 'update" from .NET 1.0 to 1.1 - you install 1.0 and its updates,
you then install 1.1 and its updates, same with 2.0 and 3.0. They are all
separate runtimes and should be installed on your system.
