An normal upgrade Pro CD run from the present system ought to upgrade it
without problems, retaining all installed software (but always back up
data before such actions, just in case of say a power failure at a
critical moment).

But HP Hardware is often proprietary, and you should try to get more out
of them as to just *what* they mean, specifically, by 'issues'. It may
be no more than a let out to avoid having to help if anything were to go
wrong subsequently.

Hi,

If you just upgrade and not clean install, the software should still be
present and should run fine. The issues you *might* encounter will stem from
proprietary drivers needed for the HP hardware - they may not be in the
retail version. You should check HP's site for any needed for the system.
