upgrading: from Outlook Express to Outlook 2002

I'm current;y trying to upgrade a home computer. I'm
replacing Windows 98 with Windows 2000 and also installing
Office 2000. With my current set-up I'm using Outlook
Express as my mail. When all is said and done with my
upgrade procedures I want to be using Outlook 2002. The
problem I have is that it seems that Outlook Express does
not have the same file extension as Outlook 2002 (.PST).
My plan is to do a full new install of Windows 2000, which
will delete everything on my computer, application wise.
Then I'll have to reload programs, etc. I can't figure
out a way to easily migrate from Ooutlook Express to
Outlook 2002. Do I find the correct Outlook Express File
and save it than somehow have Outlook 2002 use it when I'm
finished upgrading? Does anyone have an easy solution
that may help me?

Thanks in advance!!!

I'd probably install Outlook 2002 on your PC BEFORE you wipe it out. Do the transfer and save the
data from Outlook. Then after you get it set back up again, you shoudl be able to just put it back
in.

To Export from OE to O, just install O and set up your email and such. THen in OE, go to File,
Export and go through the prompts. It will automatically start movin things. If you want yotu O
program, you will see the emails and such just start appearing. Can do thsi for messages and
contacts if needed.

Then when you are done, Export or copy the data from Outlook ( I think yo just need the PST file but
I could be wrong).

Then wipe, reinstall, put the PSt file back and you're good to go.
