Upgrading Domain NT4 -> 2000

Graham

When upgrading a domain from NT4 to 2000, what happens with the new domain
name format? Old domain name = ABC. Windows 2000 format = ABC.com. Will this
affect any applications such as Exchange 5.5 or other apps in regards to how
it references the domain. In other words, will the domain name need to be
changed in all reference points within the apps to ABC.com??

Thanks,
Graham

You shouldn't ahve to touch any apps., they will still see the Netbios name
of ABC, only DNS and Active Directory will see ABC.com. Also all the
computer name will be now host.abc.com. I have never had any issues with
this.Exchange 5.5 won't even know it changed neither will any other down
level client. Windows 2k Domain Controllers look like NT4 domain controllers
to down level clients.
