Currently have a system with win98se installed. I had done the installation
myself from the CD. Trouble is, due to a divorce situation, my ex wife has
the win98 CD and isn't willing to turn it over. I would like to upgrade to
win2k, but am unsure since I have none of my install cd's (windows 98,
windows office, etc.). Can I install win2k so that it will not require a CD
and so that it will keep all current programs as they are set up on my
system?
thanks

Why not buy a copy of 98 (with key) on eBay? It is probably slightly
illegal, but if you buy a copy of 2000 *first*, I can't see that it
would be a problem.

.
don't do windows 2000...it has been nothing but trouble
for us. it's been using too much energy and that affects
other things...we can't play games either on here that we
could before with windows 98. it also does not have a
startup thing where you can stop processes from starting
on your computer...it's just a nasty windows app to have.
don't do it!
