Upgrade to XP Pro from XP Home?

Hello,
I'm trying to find out if it is possible to upgrade an existing installation
of XP Home to XP Pro. I'm doing some work for a local church that bought 1/2
of their systems with Pro & 1/2 with Home edition. I am installing a new
AD2003 Domain and need to add all the systems to the domain. I obviously
need to upgrade to XP Pro for the machnes with XP Home, but I can't risk
losing data that's on those machines. Currently they have the XP Home
machines connecting to an NT Domain (without actually being domain members),
but that is an administrative nightmare and I dont want to attempt that with
AD 2003.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks. -Jim

1. Purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" of Windows XP Professional
for each upgrade candidate.
2. Uninstall your antivirus program.
3. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD.
4. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. While running Windows XP Home, insert the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option. [Do not select "New Installation"]
6. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
7. Reinstall your antivirus program and then defrag your hard drive.

Any retail edition of Pro will upgrade Home to Pro. Home to Pro is on the
upgrade matrix for XP Pro. No problem. The upgrade will not disturb files
(although you know the drill about backing everything up first).
